The key components of a heating and air conditioning system have lots of parts and jobs to do to keep your home’s indoor air temperature comfortable throughout the seasons.

A complete HVAC system includes:

• Furnace or boiler and blower motor
• Heat exchanger
• Blower motor
• Combustion chamber
• Condenser (compressor)
• Evaporator coil
• Refrigerant lines
• Registers (return & supply)

Why replace an HVAC system?

As the years pass, a system may start needing a lot of service calls to replace worn parts or repair broken components. Perhaps you’ve purchased a home and the existing system is aging out; replacing it with a new HVAC system will provide more energy efficiency. New systems are likely to be quieter. And you’ll save on maintenance expenses.

What to expect with an HVAC replacement from Bloomfield Cooling, Heating & Electric

When you work with Bloomfield Cooling, Heating & Electric, our comfort advisor will come to your home to evaluate your system and make equipment recommendations. They will measure your home’s square footage and do a load calculation based on several factors that affect HVAC efficiency and performance. They will also determine if the ductwork needs to be replaced. We want to make sure you have the right size and quality of equipment and ductwork, and that your system is properly zoned for optimal efficiency.

Replacing an existing HVAC system typically takes one day. You will have a new furnace (gas or forced hot air), new air conditioning unit, and all the parts needed to bring in and properly circulate warm and cool air. And you may qualify for our 12-month financing program.

Additional component replacements:

• If your thermostat is working well, there is no need to replace it. However, most homeowners upgrade their thermostat when they replace their HVAC system for maximum efficiency and to take advantage of Wi-Fi capabilities of today’s connected thermostats.
• Refrigeration lines should be replaced if the system had the old R22 refrigerant (Freon) if possible. As we shared last spring in this blog article, R22 is no longer used and was phased out by the EPA in 2010. Today, central air conditioners use R410A (Puron), which is more environmentally sensitive and safer for consumers.
• We recommend the air filtration system be upgraded during an HVAC system replacement, including the installation of an in-duct air purifier.

This is especially important for new systems with computer boards and sensors that need to be kept clean; lack of routine maintenance will shorten the system’s usable life (and jeopardize the warranty).
